Switch YouTube Accounts and Brand Accounts on One Login

On YouTube you switch channels, not logins. One Google Account can manage several channels, and a YouTube Brand Account is how a channel gets its own name, so the Switch account menu is how you move between them.

1. Click your profile picture

On a computer, go to youtube.com and click your profile picture in the top right corner.

2. Choose Switch account

YouTube Help says to click “Switch account”. You then see a list of the accounts you manage.

3. Pick the channel you want

Click the account you want to use.

4. If a channel is not in the list

YouTube’s help page says that if you have permission to a channel but it does not appear, you can go to YouTube Studio to switch channels.

For a channel linked to a Brand Account, the usual cause given is that the Google Account you are signed in to is not listed as a manager of that Brand Account. The fix is to be added as a manager.

5. Why a YouTube Brand Account matters

YouTube Help explains that a channel connected to a Brand Account can be run by several Google Accounts, and one Google Account can manage many Brand Accounts without signing out in between.

A channel tied only to a personal Google Account can be used only by that person. For client work, Brand Accounts are the way to share a channel without sharing a password.

6. Scheduling for each channel in Dripost

You connect each YouTube channel to Dripost once. Each client keeps its own channels, posting times, media and approval rule, and you switch clients from the client switcher.

Dripost waits for YouTube to finish processing a video and then reads back the live link, so you can see the upload is public.

How to add someone to your YouTube channel: roles and steps

You add someone to a YouTube channel from YouTube Studio’s Permissions page by inviting their email address and choosing a role.

Check the account type. YouTube says that if you have a Brand Account you must first migrate to channel permissions. Do that first, or the invite option won’t be there.

Open Permissions in YouTube Studio. In the YouTube Studio app, tap your profile picture, then Settings, then Permissions. YouTube’s page describes the Android app; on a computer, look for the same Permissions area in Studio settings.

Invite and choose a role. Tap Invite, type the person’s email address, choose a role and send it. The invitation expires after 30 days, so send it again if it lapses.
