Can You Schedule Instagram Posts? Yes, and How to Do It

Can you schedule Instagram posts? Yes. Instagram lets apps publish to professional accounts, so once yours is one, scheduling takes a few minutes. This guide shows how to schedule a post on Instagram from a computer, and how to plan a whole month.

Can you schedule Instagram posts, and how?

In short: switch to a professional account, connect it to Dripost, add the photo or video, write the caption and pick a time. The steps below take each one in turn, and the sections after them cover bulk scheduling, editing and deleting a scheduled post, time zones and approvals.

1. Use a professional account

Instagram only lets apps post to Business or Creator accounts. Switching is free in Instagram’s settings, under Account type and tools.

2. Connect it

In Dripost, open Channels and add Instagram. You sign in with Instagram and allow publishing.

Dripost is free to start: every account gets 14 days of Pro with no card, then a Free plan you can keep.

3. Add the photo or video

One photo, a carousel of up to 10, or a video as a Reel. Instagram needs one; a text-only post is stopped before you schedule.

4. Write the caption

The preview shows where Instagram cuts the caption behind “more”. Put the hashtags in the first comment to keep the caption clean; more than 5 is stopped.

5. Pick a time

Choose a day and time, or drop the post into your next weekly slot. Not sure when? See the best time to post on Instagram.

6. Check it went live

Dripost waits until Instagram has processed a video, then reads the post’s real link back. If Instagram refuses it, you get an email with Instagram’s own reason and a Retry button.

Instagram post approval: how to get posts signed off

A caption with the wrong price or a Reel the client hasn’t seen is hard to take back. An approval step makes every Instagram post wait for a yes.

Make posts wait for a yes. On the Team screen, or in Settings under Clients, set the client to “Posts wait for a yes”. Each client has its own rule, so one brand can need approval while another posts straight out.

Write and send for approval. When approvals are on, the composer’s button reads Send for approval instead of Schedule post. The Instagram post, carousel or Reel waits in Approvals with its time; approvers get a notice in Dripost, and by email if they keep email notices on.

Approve or ask for changes. Approvers see the post as it will look on Instagram, with the first comment. Approve lets it go at its time. Ask for changes needs a comment, so the writer knows what to fix.

How to bulk schedule Instagram posts

Writing thirty captions in a spreadsheet is quicker than opening a composer thirty times. Here is how to turn that sheet into scheduled Instagram posts in one go.

Connect Instagram first. Bulk import only schedules to channels that exist. Switch the account to Business or Creator in Instagram’s own settings, then add it under Channels in Dripost. Rows that name no connected platform land in Drafts rather than being thrown away.

Lay out the spreadsheet. One row per post. Useful columns: the caption, a date, a time, the platforms, an image or video link, hashtags and a first comment. Column names don’t have to match a template: Dripost finds them by name and shows what it matched, so you can correct any it got wrong.

Give every row a picture. Instagram can’t publish a caption on its own, so each Instagram row needs a public https link to an image or video. Dripost fetches those files into your Library before it creates the posts. A row whose file can’t be fetched says so and waits for you.

How to change the time zone for Instagram scheduling

A Reel set for 7 PM should go out at 7 PM where you mean it. In Dripost that clock is set once, on your account, and every screen reads from it.

See which clock you’re on. The first time you sign in, Dripost saves your browser’s time zone and tells you in one line. After that, every time in the calendar, the composer and the lists shows on that clock, with its short name beside the schedule fields.

Change it in Settings. Open Settings, then Profile, and pick from Time zone. Common zones are listed first, then every zone. If the device you are on is somewhere else, a button offers to use this device’s zone instead.

What happens to posts already scheduled. Nothing moves. A scheduled Instagram post keeps its exact moment; it just reads differently on the new clock. A post set for 7 PM in India time shows as 5:30 PM once you switch to Dubai, and still goes out at the same instant.

How to delete a scheduled Instagram post

There are three ways to stop a scheduled Instagram post, and they differ in what they keep. Pick the one that matches what you want next.

Open the scheduled post. Click the post on the Calendar, or find it in Posts, then Queue. Its card shows the time, the Instagram account and the image with the caption.

To keep it for later: Move to drafts. Press More, then Move to drafts. The time is cleared and the post sits in Drafts with the caption, slides and first comment untouched, ready to reschedule.

To stop it for good: Cancel post. Press More, then Cancel post, and confirm. Dripost says it plainly: “Cancel it? The words are kept.” It will not go out, and the text stays on record.

How to edit a scheduled Instagram post

Spotted a typo in tomorrow’s caption, or want a better cover photo? A scheduled Instagram post can be changed right up until it starts publishing.

Find the post. Open the Calendar and click the post on its day, or go to Posts, then Queue. The post opens as a card with the image beside the caption as it will go out.

Press Edit. Edit opens the full composer with everything that was saved: the Instagram tab’s own caption, the slides in order, the first comment and the AI-generated label if you set it.

Make the change. Rewrite the caption and the preview redraws the fold. Drag slides into a new order, remove one, or attach another up to 10. Change or clear the first comment. The same checks run as when it was first scheduled.

How to post on Instagram from a computer

Your edits, exports and client files already live on your computer. Posting to Instagram from the same machine saves moving every file to a phone first.

Open Dripost in your browser. Dripost runs in Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox on a Mac or a Windows PC; there is nothing to install. Sign in with an emailed code, Google, a passkey or a password.

Connect the Instagram account. Instagram lets apps publish to Business and Creator accounts. Switch in Instagram’s settings if needed, then open Channels in Dripost and add Instagram. You sign in on Instagram’s own page, so Dripost never sees your password.

Drag the files in. Open the composer (press N) and drop a photo, several photos, or a video straight from your folder. Files go from your browser directly to storage rather than through Dripost’s servers, and if a large video upload is cut off, attaching the same file again within a few hours picks up from the parts already sent.
