Where bold text works
Instagram
Bold text works in your bio, your Name field and captions. It does not work in a username.
LinkedIn
LinkedIn posts have no bold button. Pasted bold text is how people make a hook line stand out, and it works in your headline too.
X, Threads and Facebook
All three accept it. On X, each bold letter counts as two characters.
YouTube
Descriptions and channel names accept it. Bold in a title is allowed, but a bold title is less likely to match a plain-letter search.

What is the difference between bold fonts and bold sans?
Bold has small strokes on the letters, like a newspaper. Bold sans has none, and is cleaner on a phone screen.
How do I make text bold on Instagram?

Does bold text affect search?
