Instagram Drafts: How to Find, Save and Finish Them

Instagram drafts hold a post you are not ready to publish. This guide shows how to find drafts on Instagram, how to draft an Instagram post, and how to keep drafts somewhere every computer can reach.

How to find drafts on Instagram

A draft saved in Instagram's app stays in that app on that phone. To see it, open the app, tap the plus button and choose Reel to find Reel drafts, or choose Post and open the Drafts album at the top of the photo picker. Menus move between versions, so look in Instagram's Help Center if yours differs.

A draft saved on one phone is not on another phone or on your computer. That is the main reason to keep drafts in a scheduler.

How to draft an Instagram post

In Instagram, start a post, write the caption, then go back and choose Save draft. In Dripost the steps are below, and the draft is saved with its caption, files and first comment.

1. Start a post as usual

Open the composer, tick Instagram, and write what you have. Add the photo or video now or later. You can start writing before the account is even connected.

2. Choose Draft

At the bottom, pick Draft (“Keep it in Drafts to finish later”) and press Save draft. It goes to Posts, then Drafts, with the Instagram tab and any first comment kept.

3. If you just close the window

Closing the composer without saving keeps the work on that device, and the next time you press New, Dripost asks “Resume unfinished post?”. For anything you want to find on another computer, save it as a draft.

4. Come back and finish

Open the draft from Drafts or the calendar, then Edit. Swap the photo, rework the caption against the fold line, or add hashtags to the first comment.

5. Schedule it when ready

Switch from Draft to Schedule and pick a time, or press Add to queue to drop it into your next weekly posting time. The Instagram checks run then: a photo or video is required, and more than 5 hashtags is stopped.

6. Park a scheduled post back in Drafts

Changed your mind about a post that is already scheduled? Open it, press More, then Move to drafts. The words and files stay; only the time is cleared.

    Questions

Do Dripost drafts show up in the Instagram app’s drafts?

No. They live in Dripost until they are published. Instagram only sees the finished post.

Can a draft go to several platforms?

Yes. A draft keeps every platform you ticked, each with its own text if you changed it.

How do I delete a draft?

Open it, press More, then Delete draft. Dripost asks once before it goes.
