YouTube description generator: build a YouTube description and check the chapters.

Use this generator for YouTube descriptions to fill in what the video is about, your links and your chapters. You get a description in the right order, and you know whether YouTube will accept the chapters.

The first two lines are what shows before 'Show more', so lead with the point.

One per line, timestamp then title. First at 0:00, at least three, each at least 10 seconds.

What to put where

  • The first two lines do the work

Only the start of the description shows before 'Show more'. Lead with what the video gives the viewer.

  • Chapters have rules

The first must start at 0:00, there must be at least three, they must run in order, and each must be at least 10 seconds long. The tool checks all four.

  • The limit is 5,000 characters

The tool shows how close you are.

Description generator for YouTube: copy it and paste it

Copy it into YouTube Studio, or paste it into Dripost's YouTube tab and upload the video with it.

  • YouTube description ideas that work

Start with a line on what the viewer gets, add your links, then the chapters, then two or three hashtags at the end. Dripost's generator keeps that order for every video.

  • A description for a YouTube channel

The About text of your channel is a different box: you write it in YouTube Studio's channel settings. The YouTube bio generator on Dripost suggests wording for it.

  • Copy and paste, in any language

The best YouTube description copy and paste is the one you edit to fit the video. Whether your YouTube description copy in English or another language, the first two lines still matter most.

What a good YouTube description says

A YouTube description tells viewers and YouTube what the video covers. The first two lines show in search and above 'Show more', so they carry the most weight.

  • Line one: what the viewer gets

Say the result, not the process: 'Make crispy dosa at home with a regular pan' beats 'In this video I will show you'.

  • Line two: who it is for

Name the viewer: beginners, students, small shop owners. It helps the right people click and the wrong people skip.

  • Then chapters, links and credits

Chapters come next, then links to anything you mention, then music or footage credits. The generator puts them in that order for you.

YouTube video description copy you can adapt

Templates to copy and fill in. Change every bracket; a description copied word for word from another channel does not describe your video.

  • Tutorial

[What they will be able to do] in [time]. This video is for [who], and covers [step one], [step two] and [step three]. Chapters below. Questions? Leave them in the comments and I reply to every one this week.

  • Vlog

A day in [place] with [who]: [highlight one], [highlight two] and one thing that went wrong. Filmed on [date]. Follow along for the next part on [day].

  • Review

An honest look at [product] after [time] of use: what works, what doesn't, and who should buy it. Not sponsored. Prices checked on [date].

Youtube title description copy: keep the two in step

Viewers read the title first and the description second. When they promise different things, people leave early.

  • Repeat the title's promise in line one

If the title says '3 mistakes', the first line of the description should name the topic of those mistakes in other words.

  • Use the words people search

Put the phrase a viewer would type into YouTube once in the title and once in the first two lines of the description, written as a normal sentence.

  • Avoid a viral description for YouTube that oversells

Lines like 'You won't believe what happens' get a click and lose the viewer. YouTube recommends videos people keep watching, so describe what is really there.

Youtube shorts description copy

A Short's description shows less, so keep it to one or two lines and a few hashtags. Viewers see it only when they open the description panel, so the first words still matter.

  • One line, one hashtag group

Say what happens in the Short in a single sentence, then add two or three hashtags about the topic.

  • Link the long video

If the Short is a clip from a full video, say so and use YouTube's related video link so viewers can go straight to it.

Best description for YouTube channel: copy and paste, then make it yours

Your channel description lives on the About section and in search. It changes rarely, so spend five minutes on it.

  • A channel description template

I make [type of video] for [who], every [day]. Expect [three topics]. New here? Start with [playlist name]. Business email: [email].

  • Say the upload day

A fixed day gives viewers a reason to subscribe. Change it if your schedule changes.

  • Write it for a stranger

Someone who finds one video and taps your channel name decides in a few seconds whether to subscribe. Read your channel description as that person: does it say what they will get next week?

Questions

Can Dripost upload the video with this description?

Yes. Paste it into the composer’s YouTube tab and Dripost uploads the video with it, at the time you pick. The YouTube page says exactly what it sends.

Can I use a YouTube channel description from another channel?

Copy the shape, not the words. Your channel description should say who the channel is for and what it posts, which only you can answer.

Is this a YouTube SEO title and description generator?

It builds the description and checks the chapters. For the title, use the YouTube title generator, then put the same search phrase in the first line of the description so the two match.

Can it write a channel description with AI?

This page builds a video description from what you fill in, in your browser. For a channel description, use the template above and change every bracket so it describes your channel, not someone else's.

Where do I paste the description?

In YouTube Studio, open the video, go to Details and paste it into the Description box. For a channel, go to Customisation, then Basic info.
