Schedule Threads Posts: How to Plan Them Ahead

You can schedule Threads posts ahead of time. Threads is quick and conversational, which makes it easy to forget to post, and scheduling keeps your account going on the days you do not open the app.

Who this is for

Creators and brands already on Instagram who want a steady Threads presence, and people moving their writing from X who want the same schedule on Threads.

1. Connect Threads

In Dripost, open Channels and add Threads, then sign in on Threads’ own page and allow posting.

Threads in Dripost is in live testing now: built and posting for real, open to tester accounts, and open to everyone once that test is done.

2. Write the post

A Threads post holds 500 characters. Dripost counts the way Threads does, where an emoji counts by its size in bytes, so one emoji can use up to four. Write more than 500 and Dripost posts it as a chain: the first post, then replies, split at paragraphs and sentences, up to 10 posts.

3. Add a photo or video

Dripost sends one photo or one video with a Threads post today. Text alone is fine too; Threads doesn’t need media.

4. Mind links and topics

Threads refuses a post with more than 5 links, and Dripost checks that for each post of a chain. Threads also treats only the first hashtag as the post’s topic; the rest stay plain text, and Dripost tells you so.

5. Pick a time

Choose a day and time, or press Add to queue to use your next weekly Threads time. The best time to post on Threads guide covers when people tend to read.

6. Check it went live

After posting, Dripost asks Threads until the post has its public link, then shows it. If Threads refuses, you see its reason and can retry.

Plan availability

Threads is included on every plan once it is open to you. Free allows 10 posts per channel a month; Creator is unlimited within fair use.

How to add a link to a Threads post

Threads is happy to carry links, within one firm rule: no more than five in a post. Here is how that works in a single post and in a chain.

Paste the link into the text. Write in the Threads tab and paste the full address, https included. A link counts toward the 500 characters as the letters you typed.

At most five per post. Threads refuses a post with more than 5 links, a rule Meta’s Threads developer documentation sets out. Dripost stops a post over the limit before it is scheduled, with the number of links it found.

Chains: five in each post. In a text longer than 500 characters, the chain is checked post by post, so each post of the chain may carry up to 5 links. A long resource list reads better spread that way anyway.

Threads post approval: sign-off before posts go out

Threads feels casual, which is exactly when a brand post slips out wrong. An approval step puts a second pair of eyes on every post without slowing the team to a crawl.

Turn approvals on. In Settings, then Clients, set the client to “Posts wait for a yes”, or use the Approvals section on the Team screen with the client open.

Invite the approver. Add the client or manager with the approver role. Approvers read and decide; they don’t edit, and they don’t use a paid seat.

Send for approval. Writers compose the Threads post, chain and all, and press Send for approval. It waits in Approvals with its time, and approvers are notified.

How to auto post to Threads on a schedule

Threads rewards showing up often. A queue lets you show up on schedule, even on days you never open the app.

Connect Threads. Add Threads in Channels and allow posting.

Set your times. Under Posts, then Posting times, add weekly slots for Threads, such as every morning at 9 and evenings at 7. They show on your clock.

Queue posts. Write each post and press Add to queue; it takes the next free Threads slot. A text longer than 500 characters goes out as a chain of replies at its time, up to 10 posts.

How to bulk schedule Threads posts from a CSV

Threads rewards posting often. A sheet of short posts, imported once, keeps the account moving for weeks.

Connect Threads. Add Threads in Channels and allow posting.

One row per post. Columns for the text, date, time and platforms are enough to start. A cell longer than 500 characters posts as a chain of replies at posting time, up to 10 posts, so a longer thought can live in one row.

Images by link. An image or video column takes one public https link. Dripost fetches the file into your Library during the import. A Threads post carries one photo or one video.

How to change the time zone for Threads scheduling

Threads is read in quick bursts through the day, and whose day it is depends on where your followers live. Dripost keeps one clock for you and handles the conversion.

Your clock. Dripost reads your zone from the browser at first sign-in and tells you. Every Threads time in the calendar and composer shows on it.

Change it. Settings, then Profile, then Time zone. Pick from the common zones or the full list, or use this device’s zone with one click.

Queued posts keep their moment. A Threads post set for 7:30 PM India time goes out then, whatever your clock says afterwards. On a Dubai clock it reads 6 PM and still leaves at the same instant.

How to cross post between Threads, Instagram and X

Threads sits between Instagram and X: visual when you want, conversational always. One post can start in any of them and land well in the others.

Write once. Write the post in the composer, attach a photo or video if you have one, and tick Threads along with the others.

Threads has room to breathe. Threads takes 500 characters a post and chains a longer text as replies, up to 10 posts. A LinkedIn-length post can go to Threads whole, as a short thread.

X needs the short version. X gets 280 characters and text only. Edit the X tab down to one line, or press Trim to 280, while Threads keeps the full text.

How to delete a scheduled Threads post

If a queued Threads post shouldn’t go out after all, you can stop it in three ways. They differ in what they keep.

Open it. Find the post on the Calendar or in Posts, then Queue, and open its card.

Keep it for later: Move to drafts. More, then Move to drafts. The time is cleared, and the text, chain and attachment wait in Drafts.

Stop it: Cancel post. More, then Cancel post, and confirm. It won’t go out by any route, including a retry, and the words stay on record.

How to save Threads drafts and post them later

Good Threads posts often begin as a half-thought. A drafts list keeps them where you can finish them, instead of lost in the app on one phone.

Start a draft. Open the composer, tick Threads and write the start of the idea. You can begin before Threads is connected.

Save it. Choose Draft (“Keep it in Drafts to finish later”) and press Save draft. It lands in Posts, then Drafts, with any photo or video attached.

Grow it into a chain. When you come back, keep writing. Past 500 characters the Threads tab says how many posts the chain will be, up to 10. More than that is stopped, so you know to cut.

How to edit a scheduled Threads post

Until its time comes, a scheduled Threads post is still just yours. Every word, the chain length and the attachment can change.

Open the scheduled post. Click it on the Calendar or find it in Posts, then Queue. Its card shows the text and the photo or video as they will go out.

Rewrite the text. Press Edit and change the Threads tab. If the text passes 500 characters, the tab says how many posts the chain becomes; over 10 posts is stopped, so you know to trim.

Swap the attachment. Remove the photo or video and attach another from your computer or the Library. A Threads post carries one of either.

Why is Threads not posting? Fixes that work

Threads problems fall into a few kinds, and each looks different in Dripost. Find yours here.

Can you see Threads at all?. Threads in Dripost is in live testing now: built and posting for real, open to tester accounts, and open to everyone once that test is done.

Too many links. Threads refuses a post with more than 5 links. Dripost checks each post of a chain and stops the post before scheduling, saying which one has too many.

More than one photo or video. Dripost sends one photo or one video per Threads post today, and stops a post with more before it is scheduled. Pick the one that matters, or post the rest on Instagram as a carousel.

How to post on Threads from a computer

Longer Threads posts are easier to write with a keyboard and a screen that shows the whole thought. Here is how to write and post them from a computer.

Open Dripost in a browser. It works in any current browser on macOS or Windows, with nothing to install. Sign in with an emailed code, Google, a passkey or a password.

Connect Threads. Open Channels, add Threads and approve on Threads’ own page.

Write the whole thought. Press N, tick Threads and write. Up to 500 characters is one post; longer text is split at paragraphs and sentences into a chain of up to 10 posts, each a reply to the one before. The Threads tab tells you how many posts it will be.

How to schedule a video on Threads

A short clip gets noticed on Threads among all the text. Scheduling it means it goes out when your followers are around, not when the edit finished.

Connect Threads. Add Threads in Channels and allow posting.

Attach one video. Drop the video into the composer. Dripost sends one video, or one photo, with a Threads post today, and sends the file as you made it.

Write the text. Keep it within 500 characters for a single post. A longer text posts as a chain, with the video on the first post and the rest as replies.

    Questions

Can I schedule a thread of several posts?

Yes. Write it as one text; over 500 characters it posts as a chain of replies, up to 10 posts.

Can I schedule a Threads carousel?

Not yet: Dripost sends one photo or video per Threads post.

Is Threads connected separately from Instagram?

Yes. Threads is its own channel in Dripost, connected on its own, even if you also connect Instagram.

What if one reply in a chain fails?

The first post is already live, so the post counts as published. Dripost tells you how many posts of the chain went out, and you add the rest as replies on Threads by hand.

Can I schedule a tweet-style thread on Threads?

A long text on Threads is posted as a chain of replies by Dripost. For a thread-style post on X, write it as separate posts.

How many links can a Threads post have?

    5. More and Threads refuses the post.

    Does Dripost shorten links?

No. Links go out exactly as written.

Can my client approve from a phone?

Yes. The review link works on any phone, with no login.

    Do owners’ posts wait too?

No. Owners and admins post on their own authority; approval covers other members.

Is auto posting allowed on Threads?

Yes. Dripost uses Meta’s Threads publishing API with your permission.

Can a queued post be a thread?

Yes. Longer text posts as a chain of up to 10 posts.

Can one row become a thread?

Yes. Text over 500 characters posts as a chain of up to 10 posts.

Can I import posts I wrote for X?

Yes. Threads allows more characters per post, so X-length posts fit as they are.

Does Threads need my time zone?

No. Dripost posts at the moment you chose, and Threads shows it to each reader in their own time.

Can each account have its own zone?

No. The zone is yours, not the account’s.

Can I share an Instagram post to Threads automatically?

Dripost doesn’t copy existing posts. Write the post in Dripost and tick both; each gets it at the time you choose.

Will a long Threads chain go to X as a thread?

No. Dripost sends one post to X, so X needs its own short version.

Can Dripost delete a Threads post that is already live?

Not from the app today. Delete a live post on Threads itself.

What if a chain is halfway out?

Once it has started posting it can’t be pulled back from Dripost. Remove any posts on Threads if needed.

Are Dripost drafts saved in the Threads app?

No. They stay in Dripost until they are posted.

What if I close the composer without saving?

The draft stays on that device, and the next New asks “Resume unfinished post?”.

Can Dripost edit a Threads post that is already live?

No. Once it is on Threads, changes are made there.

Will my edit change the Instagram caption too?

Only if you edit the shared text or the Instagram tab. The Threads tab keeps its own words.

Why is only my first hashtag a topic?

Threads uses only the first hashtag in a post as its topic; the others stay plain text. That isn’t a failure, and Dripost tells you before posting.

Will Dripost retry a failed Threads post itself?

No. You get an email with Threads’ reason at once, and Retry sends it when you press it.

Is posting from Dripost different from threads.net?

You can post on the web there too. Dripost adds scheduling, automatic chaining of long text, and the same post on your other platforms.

Can I post a carousel from my computer?

Not through Dripost today: one photo or video per Threads post.

Can I post two videos in one Threads post?

Not with Dripost today: it sends one video or one photo per Threads post.

    Does Dripost compress the video?

No. Threads receives the file you uploaded.
