Why is YouTube not posting my video? Common fixes

Here is how to fix YouTube not posting, from the connection to the queue. A YouTube upload can stop at several points: before it starts, during the upload, or in processing. Each shows up differently, and each has its own fix.

Who this is for

Anyone whose scheduled video didn’t appear on the channel, came back failed, or appeared as private when it was meant to be public.

1. Something was missing

YouTube needs exactly one video, no images, and a title. Dripost stops a post missing any of these before it can be scheduled, and says which.

2. The Google connection ended

Google ends an app’s access if you remove it in your Google account, and now and then for other reasons. Dripost checks connections every two hours; a broken one is flagged in Channels, and its scheduled videos wait until you reconnect.

3. The upload was cut off

If the upload stops partway, nothing was posted and Dripost says it is safe to try again. If YouTube can’t confirm whether it landed, Dripost asks you to check the channel before retrying, so the video never appears twice.

4. YouTube couldn’t process it

Sometimes YouTube accepts the file and then fails to process it. Dripost watches processing and shows YouTube’s reason. Re-export the file and retry.

5. It went up private

YouTube keeps videos uploaded by apps it hasn’t audited private until the audit passes. If YouTube does that, Dripost tells you on the post rather than calling the video public.

6. The thumbnail or comment is missing

A custom thumbnail needs a channel YouTube has verified; a first comment needs YouTube’s comment permission. In both cases the video still posts, and Dripost notes what was skipped so you can add it in YouTube Studio.

Where to see what happened

A failed upload shows in red on its day in the calendar and on Home under Needs attention, with YouTube’s reason in plain words and its code. You also get an email as soon as it fails.

Plan availability

Pre-flight checks, failure emails and Retry are on every plan.

Questions

How long does YouTube take to process?

It varies with length and quality. Dripost keeps checking and shows the link once the video is ready.

Will Dripost retry a failed upload by itself?

No. You get an email at once with the reason, and Retry re-sends only when you press it.

Why are my hashtags not showing?

YouTube ignores every hashtag on a video that has more than 15. Dripost warns you before scheduling.
