How Do You Make a Post Shareable on Facebook?

To make a post shareable on Facebook, set its audience to Public. A post shared with friends only shows a limited Share button, and a link post also needs a good preview to be worth sharing. This guide shows both.

Make a post shareable on Facebook: set the audience to Public

When you write a post, tap the audience button under your name and choose Public. Public posts show the Share button to anyone. For an existing post, tap the audience icon on it, then choose Public.

A Page's posts are public by default, so a Page does not need this step.

What Friends and custom audiences do

A post for Friends is shared only with them, and Facebook limits how it can be passed on. If you want others to share it, make it Public, or ask people to send it in a message.

Make the post worth sharing

Lead with a clear photo or a short video, say one thing in the first line and keep the link preview tidy. A post that looks right in the feed gets shared more than one that needs explaining.

Fix a link preview with the Sharing Debugger

If a link shows the wrong picture or title, open the Facebook Sharing Debugger, paste the link and choose Scrape Again. Facebook reads the page again and refreshes the preview. Then post the link again.
