How to edit a scheduled YouTube video before it uploads
Here is how to edit a scheduled post for YouTube in Dripost, from the file to the thumbnail, before it uploads. Because Dripost uploads at the scheduled time, everything about the video can still change until then, even the file itself.
Who this is for
Creators who re-export after spotting a mistake, channels testing a better title before release, and teams whose client wants one last change.
1. Open the scheduled upload
Find it on the Calendar or in Posts, then Queue. The card shows the video with its title and time.
2. Swap the video file
Press Edit, remove the video and attach the new export. Nothing has reached YouTube yet, so the new file is simply the one that uploads.
3. Rework title and description
Change the title (up to 100 characters, counted beside the field) and the description. If you add more than 15 hashtags, Dripost warns you that YouTube ignores all of them on that video.
4. Thumbnail, visibility and Short
Pick a different thumbnail from the Library, switch between public, unlisted and private, or change Short to Video. Short adds #Shorts to the description; YouTube still judges by the file’s shape and length.
5. Move the upload time
Drag the post to another slot on the calendar, or set a new time on its card and press Move.
6. Save changes
Press Save changes. If a client’s approvals are on, a change by anyone but an owner or admin sends the video back for a new yes before it can upload.
Change the first comment too
The First Comment field on the YouTube tab can be rewritten or cleared up to the upload. If you add a new link to the description, it is often worth pointing to it from the comment as well.
Check the preview before saving
The preview beside the composer redraws with every change, so you can read the new title and the start of the description as they will appear before you press Save changes.
Plan availability
Editing scheduled uploads is on every plan. Approval checks after an edit come with Pro and Agency.
Questions
Can Dripost edit a video that is already on YouTube?
No. Once it is live, change the title, description or thumbnail in YouTube Studio.
How late can I swap the file?
Until the upload starts at the scheduled time.
Will changing the title affect Instagram?
No. The title is YouTube’s own field.
Can I edit an upload that is waiting for approval?
Yes. Writers can change it while it waits; the approver then decides on the new version, not the old one.
