Facebook video size: format, aspect ratio and length for Reels
The size of a Facebook video published as a Reel through the API: 3 to 90 seconds, in 9:16, at 540 × 960 pixels or larger. Facebook publishes no equally clear numbers for ordinary Page videos, so this page doesn’t invent any.
Facebook video size ratio: the numbers Facebook states for Reels
Length is 3 to 90 seconds. The shape is 9:16, portrait. Resolution must be at least 540 × 960; Facebook recommends 1080 × 1920.
Frame rate is 24 to 60 frames per second, and MP4 is the recommended container.
Codecs and audio
Video can be H.264, H.265, VP9 or AV1, with a closed GOP of 2 to 5 seconds, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, a fixed frame rate and progressive scan.
Audio is stereo AAC-LC at 48 kHz, with a bitrate of 128 kbps or higher.
What about regular Page videos?
Facebook’s developer pages for publishing to a Page list MP4 as a supported file type but give no maximum size or length that we could confirm. Rather than repeat a figure from memory, we leave it out.
If you are close to a limit, check the Page’s own upload screen: Facebook shows the refusal reason there.
Where Dripost fits
Dripost sends Facebook the file you uploaded, never re-encoded. A vertical video of 3 to 90 seconds is suggested as a Reel, anything else as a Page video, and you can change it.
The preview shows Facebook’s version before you schedule, and a post Facebook would refuse is flagged with the reason while you can still fix it.
Facebook Reel length: how many seconds a Reel can be
A Facebook Reel can be 3 to 90 seconds long when you publish it through Facebook’s API, which is what scheduling tools use.
The range. Shortest is 3 seconds and longest is 90. A clip of 2 seconds or one of 95 seconds falls outside it.
If your video is longer. Trim it to the strongest 90 seconds, or post the full video as a normal Page video. They are two different formats and one clip can be both: cut a Reel from it and keep the long version too.
If your video is shorter. Under 3 seconds is refused as a Reel. Loop the clip or add a few frames at the end so it clears 3 seconds.
