Manage multiple Twitter accounts (X): switching and safe sharing
To manage multiple Twitter accounts, now called X accounts, begin with X’s own switching and then decide how other people get access. X lets one person add more than one account to the app and website and switch between them. What it does not solve is two people working on the same account.
1. Use X’s own account switching
X’s help page on managing multiple accounts explains how to add an existing account or create a new one, and how to switch between them. The steps differ between the apps and the website, so follow the page for your device.
Each account keeps its own password and settings.
2. Keep the accounts apart in your head
A reply sent from the wrong handle is public in seconds. Before you post, read the handle at the top of the composer, especially if one account is personal and another is a company’s.
3. The shared password problem
The easy way to get a colleague onto an account is to give them the login. That puts your password in chat history, takes away your ability to know who posted, and breaks the day that account asks for a login code sent to your phone.
Whatever tool you use, prefer one that connects the account once and lets other people post through it.
4. Counting characters per account
The 280-character limit applies on every account. Links count as 23 characters whatever their length, and most emoji count double, so a post that looks short can be over.
5. Posting for several accounts in Dripost
You connect each X account to Dripost once and teammates post through Dripost without anyone sharing the platform password. Roles are owner, admin, editor, viewer and approver, and someone can only manage people below their own role.
Each client keeps its own channels and posting times, and a post publishes only through its own client’s accounts. Dripost does not offer X numbers in its reports, so check analytics in X itself.

Questions
How many X accounts can I switch between?
X’s help page on multiple accounts gives the current limit, which can change. Check it there rather than relying on a number in an article.
Is it safe to share my X password with a freelancer?
It is better not to. Connect the account to a scheduling tool and let them post through it.
Can Dripost show X analytics?
No. Threads, LinkedIn and X numbers are not available in Dripost.
