Why is X not posting? Fixes for scheduled tweets

Here is how to fix X not posting, from the connection to the queue. X answers a post in a second or two, so problems show fast. Most come down to a few causes.

Who this is for

Anyone whose scheduled post isn’t on their X profile, came back failed, or shows “Not sure it went out” in Dripost.

1. It was over 280

X counts links as 23 each and most emoji as two, so a post that looks short can be over. Dripost counts the same way and stops an over-long post before scheduling; if you imported it, it came in as a draft with the reason.

2. It had an image or video for X

Dripost posts text to X: one post of up to 280 characters, with no photos, video or threads. When media is attached, X gets its own text-only post and the media goes to the other platforms. A post for X alone with media attached is stopped with a note to remove it.

3. The connection ended

X ends app connections from time to time. Dripost checks connections every two hours and flags a broken one in Channels; its scheduled posts wait until you reconnect.

4. X refused it

If X says no, Dripost shows X’s own reason in plain words, with its code, emails you, and marks the post failed on its day. Fix what X asks for and press Retry.

5. “Not sure it went out”

If X never answered, Dripost can’t tell whether the post landed, so it doesn’t guess. Check your profile. If it is there, tell Dripost it went out; if not, send it again.

6. It’s there, but no numbers

That isn’t a failure. X shares a post’s numbers only with paid API read access, which Dripost doesn’t have, so X posts show in Insights without numbers.

Where to see the reason

Open the post from its day in the calendar: X’s answer shows under X in plain words. The same reason is in the email Dripost sent when it failed.

Plan availability

Pre-flight checks, failure emails and Retry are on every plan.

Questions

Will Dripost retry a failed X post by itself?

No. A retry could post twice when X’s answer was lost, so Dripost tells you at once and lets you decide.

Where do I see failed posts?

On their day in the calendar and on Home under Needs attention, each with Retry.

My post went to LinkedIn but not X. What now?

Retry tries X only. LinkedIn, already live, is left alone.
