How to edit a scheduled Instagram post
Here is how to edit a scheduled post on Instagram in Dripost before it goes out. Spotted a typo in tomorrow’s caption, or want a better cover photo? A scheduled Instagram post can be changed right up until it starts publishing.
Who this is for
Anyone with Instagram posts waiting in the calendar who needs to fix a caption, swap an image, move the time or change the hashtags before posting time.
1. Find the post
Open the Calendar and click the post on its day, or go to Posts, then Queue. The post opens as a card with the image beside the caption as it will go out.
2. Press Edit
Edit opens the full composer with everything that was saved: the Instagram tab’s own caption, the slides in order, the first comment and the AI-generated label if you set it.
3. Make the change
Rewrite the caption and the preview redraws the fold. Drag slides into a new order, remove one, or attach another up to 10. Change or clear the first comment. The same checks run as when it was first scheduled.
4. Save changes
Press Save changes. If you would rather send it at once, choose Now and the button reads Save and publish now.
5. Just moving the time?
You don’t need the composer for that. Drag the post to another slot on the calendar, or change the time on the post’s card and press Move. The calendar opens on the week view; switch to Month to drag a post across weeks.
Editing one platform of a shared post
If the same post also goes to YouTube or Threads, edit on the Instagram tab to change only Instagram. The tab shows an Edited tag, and Reset brings back the shared text if you change your mind.
6. If approvals are on
An approval belongs to the exact version that was approved. When an owner or admin edits, it is re-approved with a note of who changed it; when anyone else edits, it goes back for a fresh yes before it can publish.
Plan availability
Editing scheduled posts is on every plan. Approvals, and the re-check after an edit, come with Pro and Agency.
Questions
Can I edit an Instagram post after Dripost has published it?
Dripost doesn’t change a post once it is live. Make any change on Instagram itself.
How late can I edit?
Until the post starts publishing. Once Instagram is processing it, the post is on its way.
Will editing the Instagram caption change the other platforms?
Not if you edit on the Instagram tab. Each tab keeps its own words.
