YouTube video approval before upload: how to set it up

Here is how to approve posts for YouTube in Dripost before they go out. A video is the hardest post to take back. Approval means the client watches the final cut and reads the title before it ever reaches the channel.

Who this is for

Agencies and editors producing videos for a client’s channel, brands whose legal or marketing team checks each upload, and teams where one person edits and another publishes.

1. Turn on approvals for the client

In Settings, then Clients, set the channel’s client to “Posts wait for a yes”. The Team screen has the same switch for the client that is open.

2. Add the reviewer

Invite the client or manager with the approver role. They can watch and decide, but not change the upload, and they don’t count as a seat.

3. Send the upload for approval

Prepare the video with its title, description, thumbnail and visibility, then press Send for approval. It waits in Approvals with its chosen upload time, and approvers are notified.

4. Let them watch it without a login

From the post’s More menu, Send to client makes a private review link. The client plays the video on the page, reads the title and description, and approves or sends it back with a note. The link lasts seven days and can be renewed or withdrawn.

5. Changes after approval

The yes covers the exact version approved: the file, the words, the time and the platforms. If a member other than an owner or admin changes any of them, the upload goes back for a new yes.

6. A late yes asks for a new time

If the approval comes after the chosen upload time, the video doesn’t upload hours late by surprise; Dripost asks for a new time.

See everything waiting in one place

Publish, then Approvals lists every upload and post waiting for a yes, with a count in the menu. Approvers work through it there, and writers see which of their posts were sent back and why.

Plan availability

Approvals and review links are on Pro and Agency. Pro includes 5 people; approvers are free on top.
