Claude MCP: add a remote server as a custom connector

Claude adds MCP servers as custom connectors. You paste a remote server’s address, approve its tools as Claude uses them, and Claude can start working in that product. Dripost’s server is a ready example for social posts.

Who can add an MCP server to Claude

Anthropic’s help page says custom connectors work across Claude, Cowork and Claude Desktop on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, and that Free users are limited to one custom connector.

On Team and Enterprise, only Owners add a connector first, under Organization settings, Connectors. Members then connect it themselves.

1. Open Connectors

On a Pro or Max account, go to Customize, then Connectors, click the plus and choose Add custom connector.

2. Enter the server address

For Dripost it’s mcp.dripost.com/mcp. Advanced settings has optional OAuth credentials; Dripost apps can connect with OAuth, so you sign in to your workspace rather than pasting a key.

3. Turn it on in a conversation

Use the plus button in a chat to enable the connector. Per Anthropic, Claude requires approval before invoking tools; you can approve each action or pick Allow always for a server you trust.

Start with a read: “Show my Dripost workspace and connected channels.” It should list your accounts.

4. Be careful what you trust

Anthropic’s guidance is to connect only to trusted servers, warning that malicious servers may include hidden instructions, and to read tool approval requests carefully.

With Dripost, a connection is drafts-only until you tick the “post” permission, and a post Claude wrote still waits 10 minutes. Claude and ChatGPT have been tested end to end against it.
