Automate Instagram posts: three honest ways and their safety rules

You can automate Instagram posts three ways: schedule them in an app, send them through an API, or ask an AI assistant to do it, and each one needs a limit on what runs unattended.

1. Schedule them

The simplest automation is a scheduler: write the posts in a batch, set the times, let them go out. Instagram’s own publishing flow on Meta’s page creates a container and publishes when called, so the waiting is the scheduler’s job.

Dripost works with Instagram professional accounts, which is also what Meta’s publishing page describes.

2. Call an API

When another system produces the content, a spreadsheet, a store or a workflow, send it by API. Dripost’s REST API (dripost.com/docs/api) takes the post, so you skip registering an Instagram app of your own.

The route also works from n8n on the Pro plan, using an HTTP Request node.

3. Ask an AI assistant

Claude and ChatGPT have been connected to Dripost’s MCP server at mcp.dripost.com and tested end to end. The server has 10 tools, from creating a draft to publishing and retrying a failed platform.

You can ask in plain words, such as drafting a caption and putting it on Friday, and the assistant calls the tools.

The rules that keep it safe

Access is drafts-only by default. Scheduling and publishing need a separate post permission that the account owner ticks on purpose.

“Publish now” from an app needs a person to approve it on dripost.com. Any time an app sets is at least 10 minutes away, and a post an AI wrote or changed waits 10 minutes, so the owner can cancel it.

What it won’t do

Each post goes to each platform once. If a result is unclear Dripost asks a person instead of sending again, so automation never turns one post into two.

Questions

Is automating Instagram posts allowed?

Meta’s own API supports publishing to professional accounts. Dripost uses it so you don’t build the integration.

Can an AI post to Instagram for me?

It can make drafts, and publish only if you tick the post permission. Posting now needs your approval.

What does it cost to try?

Every account starts with 14 days of Pro, no card.
