Social Media Strategy Template: One Page You Can Copy
A template for a social media strategy keeps the plan on one page: why you post, for whom, where and how often. Copy the headings below into a document and fill each one in a few lines.
The template for a social media strategy, section by section
1. Goal: one thing you want, such as more bookings or more subscribers. 2. Audience: who they are and what they need. 3. Platforms: the one or two where they spend time. 4. Content pillars: three topics you will post about. 5. Rhythm: how often and when. 6. Measures: two numbers you will check. 7. Review: the date you will look again.
How to fill in the goal and audience
Write the goal as a sentence you can check later. Describe the audience as one real person: what they do, what they ask you and what they struggle with. A vague audience gives vague posts.
Pillars and rhythm
Three pillars are enough: for example, teach, show and ask. Choose a rhythm you can keep for three months, and put it in a calendar, such as two posts a week on each platform you choose.
Measures that matter
Pick numbers that match the goal: messages for bookings, saves or shares for reach, link clicks for traffic. Check them monthly, not daily, and compare against your own past months.
Turn the page into a month of posts
Once the page is done, write a month of posts in one sitting and schedule them. Dripost's calendar shows the whole month across your platforms.

Questions
How long should a social media strategy be?
One page is enough to start. Longer plans tend to go unread.
How many platforms should the template cover?
Start with one or two. Add another when the first runs steadily.
Can I use the same template for clients?
Yes. Fill one in per client, and keep each in the client's folder.
Does this work as a social media marketing strategy template?
Yes. The goal, audience and measures are marketing questions, so the same page covers the marketing side too, for your own account or a client.
