Guide
LinkedIn video size: format, length and file limit
The size of a LinkedIn video for the feed is 3 seconds to 30 minutes long and between 75 KB and 500 MB, as an MP4. That is the range this guide explains, with what LinkedIn does not state.
Length and file size for a LinkedIn video
Minimum length is 3 seconds and maximum is 30 minutes. File size runs from 75 KB up to 500 MB.
These are the figures in LinkedIn’s Videos API for feed video, which is the route a scheduling tool uses.
Format
LinkedIn asks for MP4. Export your video as MP4 before you upload it.
Thumbnail and captions
The API lets you attach a thumbnail and an English caption file in SRT format. Both are optional.
LinkedIn video dimensions: what we can’t tell you
LinkedIn’s API page doesn’t state a required aspect ratio or resolution, so this page gives none. Vertical, square and landscape clips are all seen on LinkedIn; the preview is the place to judge the crop.
Using Dripost
Dripost sends LinkedIn one video per post on your personal profile, as you uploaded it. Company pages are text only in Dripost.
If your clip breaks a LinkedIn limit, the preview flags it with the reason before you schedule.
Before you export
Check the clip against the length and file-size range above, save any captions as an SRT file, then open the preview and judge the crop yourself, since LinkedIn names no required aspect ratio.
