How to Get Your Account Verified on Instagram (Blue Tick)

To get your account verified on Instagram today, the route Meta offers is Meta Verified, a paid subscription inside the app. The blue tick shows that the account is real. This guide explains how it works, what it costs and what to avoid.

What the blue tick means

The blue tick, officially the Instagram verified badge, shows that the account has been checked as authentic, and in the case of Meta Verified, that the account holder matches a government ID. It does not mean an account is endorsed by Instagram or that its posts are accurate.

How Meta Verified works

Meta Verified is a monthly subscription. You apply from Settings, in Accounts Center, and Meta asks you to confirm your identity with a government ID that matches your profile name and photo. It also asks for a complete profile and posts.

The Instagram blue tick price differs by country and changes, so read the figure on the Meta Verified screen in your app rather than a blog. The subscription adds support and extra protection against impersonation.

Is the Instagram blue tick free?

Check what your account is offered in Settings. Do not pay a person or a website who promises to get you the tick, because Instagram does not sell verification through third parties and these offers are a common scam.

Get your account verified on Instagram: before you apply

Use your real name, a clear photo of yourself or your brand, a bio and a few posts. Turn on two-factor authentication. If the name on your ID differs from your profile name, fix that first.
