How to download Twitter data: your X archive, plus exporting your posts
Here is how to download Twitter data and what the file holds. X calls it the X archive: you request it from your account's data settings, confirm it is you, and X emails a link when it is ready, which can take a few days.
1. Make sure your email is confirmed
X's help page asks you to confirm your email address before requesting the archive, and to be logged in to the same browser you will download from.
2. Request the archive
In the app, open your profile menu, then Settings and privacy, then Account, then Your X data. X asks you to verify your identity with a code sent to the email or phone on file, and then offers Request data under Download your data.
3. Wait for the email
X says it may take a few days to prepare the archive. It then emails the confirmed address, or sends a push notification, with a download link.
4. What you get
X describes the archive as HTML and JSON files with your profile, posts, Direct Messages, media and followers. That makes it the way to export your posts on X.
Exports and results are different things
The archive is your history. If you want to know how posts did, month by month, you need a report, and Dripost does not show X numbers.
What Dripost does for X is check that each post went out and keep the link to the live post, so a client report can list what was published.
