How to add a link to a Threads post
Here is how to add a link to Threads posts in Dripost, and where it should sit in the post. Threads is happy to carry links, within one firm rule: no more than five in a post. Here is how that works in a single post and in a chain.
Who this is for
Writers sharing articles, creators pointing to a video or shop, and anyone building a list of resources as a Threads chain.
1. Paste the link into the text
Write in the Threads tab and paste the full address, https included. A link counts toward the 500 characters as the letters you typed.
Threads in Dripost is in live testing now: built and posting for real, open to tester accounts, and open to everyone once that test is done.
2. At most five per post
Threads refuses a post with more than 5 links, a rule Meta’s Threads developer documentation sets out. Dripost stops a post over the limit before it is scheduled, with the number of links it found.
3. Chains: five in each post
In a text longer than 500 characters, the chain is checked post by post, so each post of the chain may carry up to 5 links. A long resource list reads better spread that way anyway.
4. Lead with why
A line that says what the link is and why it is worth a tap does more than the address alone. Put the reason first and the link after it.
5. Share the link elsewhere too
Tick X or LinkedIn in the same post. X counts every link as 23 characters however long it is; LinkedIn counts it as typed. Each tab shows its own count.
6. Schedule and check
Pick a time or Add to queue. Dripost checks until the post has its public link, then shows it, so you can see how the link looks.
Links with a photo or video
A post can carry one photo or video along with its links. The attachment sits on the first post of a chain, so put the most important link there too.
Plan availability
Links in Threads posts work on every plan once Threads is open to you.
