YouTube Analytics: See Subscribers, Views and Stats

Analytics for YouTube lives in YouTube Studio, and it is free for your own channel. This guide shows how to see subscribers on YouTube, read video analytics, what you can and cannot see for other channels, and where a tool helps.

How to see subscribers on YouTube

Open YouTube Studio and look at the dashboard, or choose Analytics and the Overview tab. That is also how to see your subscribers on YouTube and read your sub count. Public counts shown to viewers are rounded, but Studio shows your own exact number.

YouTube video analytics and stats

For video analytics, open a video in Studio and choose Analytics. Views, watch time, the audience retention graph and traffic sources tell you what to repeat. YouTube stats like these are the same ones the tool inside Studio shows.

YouTube analytics for other channels

For other channels you only get public numbers: views, subscriber count and upload dates. Their watch time and revenue are private, so a website claiming exact figures for someone else's channel is estimating.

Tool options and analytics websites for YouTube

A third-party website can add history and comparison, and some charge. Dripost's Insights shows YouTube numbers next to your Instagram and Facebook ones, so you read them in one place.

1. Upload through Dripost

Insights measures videos Dripost uploaded, since it holds each one’s YouTube id. Videos uploaded straight in YouTube Studio are not counted.

2. Open Insights

Go to Results, then Insights. Choose 7 days, 30 days, month to date or last month, and filter to YouTube when other platforms are connected.

3. Views, likes and comments

For each video Dripost reads YouTube’s view count, likes and comments. The summary adds them up for the period and shows the change against the period before; numbers appear a few hours after a video goes live.

4. Engagement rate

Because YouTube shares views, Insights can work out an engagement rate: likes, comments and shares divided by views.

5. Top videos

Sort top posts by views, reactions or comments to see which uploads pulled their weight, each with its title and date.

6. Your best upload time

Insights suggests a day and hour, learned from how your own measured posts did, shown on your clock with the number of posts behind it.

Compare with your other platforms

With the channel filter on all platforms, YouTube sits in one summary with Instagram and Facebook. Views there come from YouTube, since Instagram and Facebook don’t share views with Dripost yet.

    Questions

Is this the same as the analytics in YouTube Studio?

No. YouTube Studio has watch time, retention and traffic sources. Dripost shows views, likes and comments per video, next to your other platforms.

    Do Shorts count?

Yes. Any upload Dripost made is measured the same way.

    Why is a video missing?

It was uploaded outside Dripost, or it is too new: numbers arrive a few hours after it goes live.

How often are the numbers updated?

They first appear a few hours after a video goes live and are read again from YouTube every two hours for posts from the last 30 days.

Can I send these numbers to a client?

On Pro, client reports turn them into a PDF, Excel or PowerPoint file you can email or share by link.

Is YouTube Studio the best analytics tool for YouTube?

For your own channel, it has the most complete numbers, because the data comes straight from YouTube. Outside tools mostly read the same data and add views across several channels.

Where do I see my YouTube subscriber count?

On your channel page and in YouTube Studio's Analytics, under Audience, which also shows how many you gained or lost by day.
