Social Media Campaign: How to Plan One From Goal to Results
A campaign on social media is a set of posts with one goal, one message and a start and end date. This guide takes it from the goal to the results, with a short example you can adapt.
Plan a campaign on social media in six steps
Choose one goal. Write the message in a sentence. Pick the platforms where your audience is. Set a start and end date. Plan the posts and the one action you want people to take. Decide how you will measure it before you begin.
Pick a goal you can check
“More people know us” is hard to check. “Fifty enquiries from the festival offer by 31 October” is easy. Choose a goal tied to a number you can see, such as enquiries, sign-ups or link clicks.
Build the calendar
Mix formats: a launch post, two or three useful or entertaining posts, a reminder and a final-day post. Give the campaign a short name or hashtag so you can find its posts later. Write them all first, then schedule them.
A small example
A bakery runs a two-week campaign for festival boxes. It posts photos of the boxes, a short video of packing, a customer message used with permission and a last-order reminder. The call to action is the same each time: message to order.
Measure and learn
When it ends, count the goal number, note which posts brought the most and write down what you would change. Keep the notes with the campaign so the next one starts ahead.
Questions
How long should a campaign run?
Long enough to repeat the message a few times, often two to six weeks for a small business.
Do I need ads for a campaign?
No. Many campaigns run on organic posts. Ads can be added later to posts that already work.
How do I schedule a whole campaign?
Write the posts, pick the times and schedule them in Dripost. The calendar shows the whole run.
