Hashtags
Twitter hashtags for X posts
Twitter hashtags on X do their best work in ones and twos, because space is tight and a long set eats the sentence. Use tags people actually follow during a conversation and keep the rest of the line for your own words. For what is trending now, open X's Explore tab.

Using these hashtags well
One or two is the working range
With a character limit, each hashtag takes space from the sentence. Pick the one tag the conversation really uses and stop there.
Check what is already being used
Type the tag into search first. A tag with lively recent posts is a better bet than one nobody has touched in months.
Put the tag inside the sentence
Writing it as part of the line, like "shipping my first #buildinpublic update", saves characters and reads naturally.
Questions
How many hashtags should I use on X?
One or two. More than that crowds a short post and adds little.
Do hashtags on X still matter?
They help people find a post during a live event or a community conversation. For ordinary posts, the words of the post itself are what people search.
Should I use the same hashtags on every post?
No. Use a tag only when the post belongs to that conversation; repeating one everywhere looks like noise.
Does Twitter use hashtags?
Yes. X, the former Twitter, still links every hashtag to a search for it, so people can open the tag and see posts that use it.
Do hashtags work on Twitter?
They help a post show up in a search for the tag during a live topic, such as a match or a launch. One or two usually do the job.
How do I use hashtags on Twitter?
Write the post first, then add one or two tags in the line or at the end. Put the tag on a word that already belongs in the sentence.
Can you follow a hashtag on Twitter?
X has no follow button for a hashtag as far as the app offers today. You can search it and save the search, and menus change, so look at the search screen.
Is there a Twitter hashtag generator?
Dripost's free hashtag generator works for X posts too. Paste your idea, copy the tags and keep one or two.
